Business Contracts Overview

This page describes contract-related services offered by the UCSC Procurement and Business Contracts Office.

The goal of Business Contracts is to facilitate the timely execution of business agreements while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, university policy and accepted financial practices.

The UCSC Business Contracts group provides review, approval and execution of business agreements containing non-standard terms and conditions required to:
• procure goods and services; and,
• provide services by the campus.

Contracts executed by Business Contracts staff relate to SCDA-BUS0005 University Delegations of Authority that grant authority for business contract administrators to, “execute various business contracts required with outside organizations, agencies and individuals to implement approved programs and activities.”

The Business Contracts authority is not used for transactions governed by other signature delegations including:
• real estate agreements – processed by the UCSC Real Estate Office
• sponsored research agreements –processed by the Office of Sponsored Projects
• construction-related agreements –processed by Physical Planning & Construction
• agreements relating to the ownership, use and licensing of copyrighted works or other university intellectual property – processed by the Office for the Management of Intellectual Property
