How to Buy from MSC Using the CruzBuy Punchout System

Summary: Learn how to place orders for MSC Industrial Supply Co. products using the CruzBuy Punchout.
(Examples of MSC product categories with discounts: tools and hardware, hvac, electrical and lighting, plumbing supplies, metalworking and cutting tools, and miscellaneous MRO supplies.)

Reasons and Ways to Use the MSC Punchout

• View and use UC-established pricing.
• Save a list of items - known as your personal list - directly on the punch-out for future access.
• Import your cart of items from the MSC punch-out to CruzBuy instead of manually adding items in CruzBuy.
• Identify environmentally friendly MSC products using their icon. See Step 2 (E) below.

Cautionary Notes for Browsers

• Safari, used on a PC, does not allow users to browse MSC's Big Book of Parts.
• Safari, used on a MAC with cookies enabled, has no known issues.
• The MSC punch-out times out after 15 minutes, when left idle. Uers may log in for as long as needed while actively using the site. While MSC is designed to save items in your cart, your work may not be recoverable if timeout occurs. Your cart is saved when you complete the checkout process on the punch-out so the items are returned to CruzBuy.

Shipping

MSC ships most in-stock items the same day using overnight delivery. This explains why there are no shipping options.
The Ship Via selection box in CruzBuy will not communicate to MSC.

Steps for Placing Orders using the MSC Punchout

1. Enter the MSC Punchout through CruzBuy. See an example screen below.
   1. Click the Product Search tab from the CruzBuy home page.
   2. Click All Categories, if not already highlighted.
   3. Click on the MSC Punchout icon.

2. Add items to cart. The MSC site offers several ways to browse items:
   1. Search for the item.
   2. Directly enter the item in the Part Number box, select a quantity and add it to your cart, when the part number is known.
   3. Browse and select items from the Big Book an electronic copy of MSC's catalog. Click Browse the Big Book to access the catalog. See MSC Big Book Instructions (pdf).
   4. Use links to browse by category and further narrow a search by using subcategory links.
   5. Search for Eco-Friendly Resources by choosing that option under the Resources tab, located along the top of any MSC punch-out screen. Eight eco-friendly product categories are each represented by their own icon. Click on any of the 8 icons to view available products. Search within these results to find specific eco-friendly items.

3. Enter the required quantity and click ADD TO CART.

4. Adjust quantities and remove items using the MSC Shopping Cart screen shown below.
   Click Home to order additional items.
5. Once your cart contains all the items you wish to purchase, click CHECK OUT to begin finalizing your order.

6. The MSC Order Summary screen provides a complete list of the items in your cart for final verification.
   
   If the list is correct, click CONTINUE to return to CruzBuy and complete your requisition.

OR
To edit your cart (change quantity for item(s) or delete item(s)) click the BACK button.
To include additional items from MSC, repeat steps 2-5 above.
